Life's a Beach!

It certainly is at Woolacombe with its 2.5 miles of golden sand and clean blue sea. More than a beach in fact. There's plenty to do away from one of North Devon's finest beaches ( which is handy in case the sun goes in) Woolacombe Beach Life covers it all - what's happening (and what happened) places to go, things to do - all to help you plan, enjoy - and report on - a memorable holiday in North Devon - whatever the season.

Another busy day on the beach

Sri Lankan Curry Night

Had a lovely Sri Lankan curry on Barricaine beach last night. There was a choice of vegie, chicken, beef or tiger prawn for £8.50. This included side salad, riata and poppadoms. We sat at tables and then moved down to the beach to watch the sun setting in front of us.........bliss! They serve from 5.30.-8pm every night the weather is good!

Just been for a day trip to Lundy Island!

Lundy lies off the coast of North Devon, where the Atlantic ocean meets the Bristol Channel with nothing between it and America, a granite outcrop, three and a half miles long and half a mile wide. In the hubbub of the modern world it is a place apart, peaceful and unspoilt.

Marine Conservation Zone

Lundy’s clear waters are a magnet for marine wildlife. Where warm southern currents meet cooler northern waters, creating the ideal conditions for a diverse and thriving marine environment. Find out more at www.lundymcz.org.uk
MS Oldenburg

Visitors are carried to Lundy on the MS Oldenburg, Lundy's own ship. She is a graceful motor vessel, fast, comfortable and built on traditional lines. Below decks she retains her original panelling and brass fittings, but has been skilfully modernised to provide heated saloons, bar, buffet, shop and information centre. The trip takes 2 hours sailing past the northern Devon coast before turning out towards the Bristol Channel. We saw Sika deer, the Lundy pony, seals and plenty of marine birds
