Life's a Beach!

It certainly is at Woolacombe with its 2.5 miles of golden sand and clean blue sea. More than a beach in fact. There's plenty to do away from one of North Devon's finest beaches ( which is handy in case the sun goes in) Woolacombe Beach Life covers it all - what's happening (and what happened) places to go, things to do - all to help you plan, enjoy - and report on - a memorable holiday in North Devon - whatever the season.

Snow falls in Woolacombe

Snow falling in Woolacombe is a rare occurrence, but when it does, for a few days, walks along the South West Coastal Footpath and down deep Exmoor lanes provide a magical  experience as these photos suggest.

Here are some images taken from the terrace at Devon Beach Court looking East towards Morte Point and West along Woolacombe Sands to Putsborough and Baggy Point.

Here are some photos taken on a walk around the foothills of Exmoor near Bratton Fleming, about 20 minutes or so drive from Woolacombe. If you're heading that way, The Black Venus in Challacombe does some great pub lunches.

We've had some lovely feed back for some equally lovely guests these past couple of weeks, which I thought I should share with the world...

"Thank you so much for such a peaceful weekend, Apartment perfect to chill out in and beach to blow the cobwebs away. We didn't want to go home!"                                                   Mrs L Oct '10

" We have been coming to Woolacombe for many years and this is definitely the best apartment we've stayed in. Excellent for listening to the crashing waves, the beaches and of course the Red Barn. Very clean, comfortable well cared for apartment and the welcome touches were thoughtful. Thank you! We will be very happy to recommend this lovely holiday home."                                                                                                                               Mrs Mc Oct '10

Well, that's made my week - and the time it takes to clean the flat properly all worthwhile!

Surfing Days

Autumn is coming. And with it the waves. Through September to the end of the year the gentle waves morph into a much larger swell, and there's nothing we like more than to sit on the communal terrace at Woolacombe Beach Court with newly made friends on a wind-swept day watching spectacular displays of surfing on Woolacombe's awesome beach breaks.

Contrary to popular belief the sea stays remarkably warm though to the end of October, so if you fancy a go at surfing, well, now's a great time of year to come down for a lesson. Plenty of friendly surf schools here! Or, just join us on the terrace where you're near enough to nip back inside for a mug of hot fresh coffee without having to miss all the action on the beach.
